Faust

What day is it?
It's night blind one.
What month is it?
It's a different month.
What year is it?
It's the year anti-Christ.
What time is it?
Time to wake up!
Why is it?
It's the will of it.
What is it?
It's a whatnot!
Who is it?
You are it!
Who are you?
I'm not you!

FAUST!
WHERE ARE YOU?
SHOW YOU FACE!
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!
LOOK AROUND!
WAS IT WORTH IT?
ON TOP OF THE WORLD!
ALL FOR YOUR SELF
EVERYONE KILLED
REIGN OF THE INDIVIDUAL
THE EMOTIONAL PLAGUE
DOMINATE AND CONQUER THE EMPTY SPACE
THE VACCUM IN YOUR GRASP
YOU MASTER OF UNIVERSE!

An Die Wiener Verkehrsbahnlinie-On Vienna Public Transit

In lieu of my last post, I reprint this poem that I wrote last December in Vancouver.

An Die Wiener U-Bahn
Which was once called the Stadt Bahn*
Not to confuse with S-Bahn
Die nicht so schnelle Schnell-Bahn**

There's a voice that announces stations
On the U-Bahn and Strassenbahn***
His voice is clear and most sincere
Enunciation not reactionary denunciation

Kar-di-nal Na-gl Platz****
Stadt-park Kon-zert-Haus*****
West-bahn-hof******
Do-may-er-gas-se*******

All the foreigners in Wien********
Learn German quite keen
By riding the U-Bahn
Practice what they learn

From the alphabet
To the numbers
The non-German speaker
Obtains a nice accent

With bored yet patient tone
Each station each stop the highlights are borne
So the passenger is informed
No one feels foreign

Each stop each station is announced
With bus , U-bahn and S-bahn connection
Including the Lokalbahn*********
That travels from Vienna to Baden

When the train or trolley reaches the end
The voice informs of the End-sta-tion
And politely extols
Bit-te al-le aus-steig-en**********

How I miss die Wiener U-Bahn
As well as die Strassenbahn
Painted in socialist avant-garde red
Rote Wien was never dead***********

The Vienna-New York Connection: Karl Lueger

REACTIONARY MONUMENTS
All visitors to Vienna who stay at least one or two days will come upon the Ringstrasse. The Ringstrasse was built between 1860 and 1888. It was the 19 Century´s largest urban public works project of any city in Europe or North America. It was designed and built by the Bourgeoisie once they had effectively taken control of Vienna. It was built as a ring around the Hofburg, the imperial palace of the Hapsburg monarchy. It was an aggressive fencing in of the monarchy and the Catholic Church. The new ruling class of Vienna made it clear in no uncertain terms that they were the masters of the city. The Ringstrasse was a monument of the victory of Democratic Liberalism over the Feudalism and Clericalism.

Civil War

My soul is filled
With heavy feeling
Emotions stir within
Threatens to overtake my being

My heart beats alone
Knocking upon my soul
Thump Thump Thump
Echoes throughout the whole

My spirit stirs in alarm!
Too much pain causes harm
No, it remains independent
The release of feeling must be resisted!

My mind calm and rational
Declares martial law and the lockdown
Shuts down the emotional
Closes the heart tightly sewn

My soul expands about to bust
An insurrection it desires to instigate
Stirs the feelings to combust
Against the barricades of negating fate

Against the tyranny of the mind
Insisting upon Freedom of Emotion
Heart and soul are aligned
Together generate the force of an ocean

This is the civil war
Battling violently within
The repression of emotion has gone too far
I wonder which side will win.

Canadian Brief

JUST FOR LAUGHS
Did you hear the joke about Canada? Canada elected a far right wing government but gave it little power to govern. In case you didn’t know, Canada in fact has a far right wing government. How did Liberal Soviet Canuckistan become Conservative North Dakota? Here’s how.

The Vienna-New York Connection: Theodor Herzl

WIEN VERSUS NEW YORK
Let’s get to the nitty gritty. Before I first arrived in Vienna, Austria in 1998, I had no idea that I was traveling back in time. I did not realize how true my words from The Fall of New York were.
“The Future Is Now. The Present is all we have with the past acting as a compass.”
