Stations Of The Elevated

I'm feeling very nostaligic these days. When asked if I miss New York, my response is that the NYC that I miss is gone. The only thing that I miss about my hometown is the subway. Still, the subway is not the same as I have pointed out in older posts. Thanks to YouTube and the Internet, I can travel back in time. The video clip below is from a forgotten film which was the first to showcase the Graffiti of the IRT subway trains. What I miss most about the old rolling stock is the sound of the trains. Pay close attention to the sounds of the trains in the yards. How i miss the sounds of the motors turning on and winding down. The sound of the air brakes. These were the sounds that I memorised and mimicked as a child. I was always considered a nutter in school because I would imitate the sounds of the subway all the time. As I noted in my previous post, the sounds of the subway was where I got my sense of music which today is reflected in my poetry and music. Without further ado, I present "Stations Of The Elevated" from 1980.
