Dr. John Henrik Clarke-A Great and Mighty Walk

This video chronicles the life and times of the noted African-American historian, scholar and Pan-African activist John Henrik Clarke (1915-1998). Both a biography of Clarke himself and an overview of 5,000 years of African history, the film offers a provocative look at the past through the eyes of a leading proponent of an Afrocentric view of history. From ancient Egypt and Africa’s other great empires, Clarke moves through Mediterranean borrowings, the Atlantic slave trade, European colonization, the development of the Pan-African movement, and present-day African-American history.

China to Become Economic #1 in 2016: U.S. Imperialism Doomed

By Glen Ford
The end of U.S. economic hegemony in the world is near – much nearer than almost anyone thought. No less an authority than the U.S.-dominated International Monetary Fund predicts that China will outstrip the United States by the year 2016, when measured by the real value of what people earn and spend in their domestic economies. It’s called “purchasing power parities,” and under that measure – which is as good as any – China’s economy will outgrow the U.S. in five years, $19 trillion compared to $18.8 trillion. And the gap will continue to grow, from there.
Imagine: most of us alive today will see a watershed in modern civilization. At or around the year 2016, unless something wholly unforeseen occurs, the United States will fall from the economic pinnacle it has occupied since the late 1890s. Much more importantly, the bell will have tolled, definitively, for U.S. imperialism.

Berlin-Metro

U.S. Civil War: The US-Russian Alliance that Saved the Union

At the point of maximum war danger between Great Britain and the United States, the London satirical publication Punch published a vicious caricature of US President Abraham Lincoln and Russian Tsar Alexander II, demonizing the two friends as bloody oppressors.
From Punch, October 24, 1863.

by Webster G. Tarpley

"Who was our friend when the world was our foe." -
Oliver Wendell Holmes, 1871

One hundred fifty years after the attack on Fort Sumter, the international strategic dimension of the American Civil War represents a much-neglected aspect of Civil War studies. In offering a survey of some of the main issues involved, one feels required to justify the importance of the topic. It is indeed true that, as things turned out, the international strategic dimension of the 1861-65 conflict was of secondary importance. However, it was an aspect that repeatedly threatened to thrust itself into the center of the war, transforming the entire nature of the conflict and indeed threatening to overturn the entire existing world system. The big issue was always a British-French attack on the United States to preserve the Confederate States of America. This is certainly how Union and Confederate leaders viewed the matter, and how some important people in London, St. Petersburg, Paris, and Berlin did as well.

Intellectual Failures of Western Leftists

Independent Thinking As Revolutionary Act
A true and sincere revolutionary thinker and artist challenges all the predominate ideas of the time. This includes the ideas and opinions advanced by so-called "progressives" and "leftists". The role of a revolutionary thinker and artist is to break all types of totalitarian beliefs and ideologies. This is truly revolutionary because one challenges cherished orthodoxies held.  Due to the totalitarian nature of corporate feudal capitalism, free thought is increasingly restricted. This is clear within the so-called "progressive" scene of the Western world. There are ideological poles which dictate that no one should move beyond lest they be deemed anti-progressive. Undoubtedly, my ideas presented over the past weeks have created confusion among readers as the ideas do not fit neatly within the contemporary Left-Right paradigm.

NATO War Based on Lies, Tripoli Was Never Bombed

In Libya, Colonel Gaddafi's troops are reportedly being withdrawn from the rebel-held city of Misrata in the face of NATO airstrikes. It follows an almost two month standoff. Meanwhile, allied aircraft carried out fresh airstrikes on the capital Tripoli overnight, with a government spokesman saying at least three people were killed in the raid. Sukant Chandan, who has just returned from a monitoring mission in Libya, believes there's no justification for NATO's actions. This report states that Tripoli was never bombed by Gaddafi, and therefore, the NATO war on Libya was based on lies.

Reflections of Captialist Disintegration From Vienna

The disintegration of Western Civilisation is the direct result of capitalist degeneration. Westerners have been turned into robots and machines incapable of experiencing authentic human life.
On Multiculturalism and the Far Right

Multiculturalism breeds racism. Racism has increased not decreased as a result of multiculturalism. Political Correctness has not eradicated reactionary sentiment. Rather PC has only suppressed its open expression. The manifestation of reactionary racism as a result of multiculturalism and PC is reflected in electoral politics.
The electoral success of the far right only reinforces multiculturalism and PC. The more multicultural society becomes, the more it becomes racist. The electoral success of the far right will only increase multiculturalism. The far right offers a political and social dead end for the masses to alleviate their discomfort. They may want the Blacks and Muslims to leave but it won't happen. The jobs are disappearing. The misery will increase. Voting for the far right is the ultimate in futility. It is open surrender and submission to capitalism.

Croatian conviction casts light on US responsibility for war crimes

From World Socialist Website
by Paul Mitchell
Last week, the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia in the Hague found two Croatian military leaders, General Ante Gotovina and Assistant Interior Minister Mladen Markac, guilty of war crimes and sentenced them to 24 years and 18 years imprisonment, respectively. A third defendant, Ivan Cermak, was acquitted.
Gotovina and Marcak were accused of taking part in a “joint criminal enterprise”, the purpose of which was “the permanent removal” of the Serb population of the Krajina region of Croatia during the August 1995 Operation Storm military offensive, which broke a United Nations-monitored cease-fire.
Their crimes, involving “deportation and forcible transfer, plunder of public and private property, wanton destruction, murder, inhumane acts and cruel treatment”, led to the deaths of up to 2,200 people, half of them civilians, and the creation of 200,000 Serb refugees.

Further Notes On Western Social and Political Disintegration

Uniqueness=atomisation of individual.
Western "individuality" is a self imposed straight jacket of totalitarian capitalism. Individualism replaces "the self". Instead of a central creative self, the capitalistically degenerated human becomes a living advertisement of capitalism. People destroy personal character traits that give them life in place of the "ideal" of the capitalistically degenerated petit-bourgeoisie. TINA (There is no alternative) means that "alternative lifestyles" are no alternative to capitalism. Capitalism ensnares "the other" (alternative) within its economic, political, cultural, social and spiritual sphere. Personalities are inauthentic making people insecure as natural autonomous liberated humans. People live lies and lie to themselves and each other. Insincerity breeds insecurity. Insecurity breeds fear of reality, as well as self and authentic life experiences. Lack of authenticity and sincerity of self and reality breeds fear of freedom. The individual submits to fascistic authority and becomes obedient.

Notes On Western Intellectual Decline

Postmodernism, Deconstructionism, Poststructualism as (anti) intellectual propaganda.
-A(nti)historical (End of History), revisionist, erasure and rewritng history.
-Reactionary (Heidegger), anti-Enlightenment, anti-Libertarian.
-Anti-intellectual, totalitarian relativism, lack of critical thought and complex reasoning
-Destructive not constructive, anti-creative, copy paste, deconstructing existence to nothingness
-Seeks to modify rather than change the world. Seeks to make capitalism more "accommodating" and to "accommodate" capitalism into all spheres of life.
-seeks to objectify "the other" (non-conformist, human) as anti-civilised (barbaric) while maintaining a silence  on the ecocidal barbarism of capitalism, consumer society and the global North
-Silent on totalitarian capitalist ecocide and genocide while (falsely) accusing its opponents of genocidal barbarism (Milosevic, Gadaffi).

President Obama Gets His Groove Back By Attacking Africans

From Black Agenda Report
By Cynthia McKinney

President Obama promised "change" to the people who voted for him. He told them to hope again and that change would come. But President Obama's change is really more of the same. Therefore, his elixir that was sold to the world was nothing more than snake oil. The most damage, of course, is being done to those whose dreams were intricately woven into his words, not realizing that words are not policy. In a most deadly treachery, those who believed in our President the most are the ones who are now suffering and dying the most.

World War III Scenario? The War on Libya, the US- NATO Agenda and the Next Great War

From Global Research
by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

In the 1930s the US, Great Britain, and the Netherlands set a course for World War II in the Pacific by conspiring against Japan. The three governments seized Japan’s bank accounts in their countries that Japan used to pay for imports and cut Japan off from oil, rubber, tin, iron and other vital materials. Was Pearl Harbor, Japan’s response?
Now Washington and its NATO puppets are employing the same strategy against China.

Protests in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, and Yemen arose from the people protesting against Washington’s tyrannical puppet governments. However, the protests against Gaddafi, who is not a Western puppet, appear to have been organized by the CIA in the eastern part of Libya where the oil is and where China has substantial energy investments.
Eighty percent of Libya’s oil reserves are believed to be in the Sirte Basin in eastern Libya now controlled by rebels supported by Washington. As seventy percent of Libya’s GDP is produced by oil, a successful partitioning of Libya would leave Gaddafi’s Tripoli-based regime impoverished. http://www.energyinsights.net
The People’s Daily Online (March 23) reported that China has 50 large-scale projects in Libya. The outbreak of hostilities has halted these projects and resulted in 30,000 Chinese workers being evacuated from Libya. Chinese companies report that they expect to lose hundreds of millions of yuan.

ACTION ALERT: Tell the Harper government you oppose its perimeter security plan

From The Council of Canadians

On March 13, the Harper government announced it was accepting on-line submissions on the Beyond the Border Action Plan announced in Washington, D.C. five weeks earlier on February 4.
Minister of State Denis Lebel told a news conference that, “We are committed to consulting with Canadians on the implementation of the shared vision for perimeter security and economic competitiveness.” This ‘security perimeter’ plan is essentially a continuation and expansion of the Security and Prosperity Partnership only without Mexico this time. That much we can guess from promotional material on the government's website.
But no one can know for sure what ‘perimeter security’ means until the details, which are being developed behind closed doors, are announced in June. And we are being asked to suggest only improvements (not criticisms) of a plan we haven't seen. Furthermore, the government is clearly prioritizing the input of business groups, though all Canadian residents will be impacted by deeper security ties with the United States.
That said, there is still a space for written submissions on the Perimeter Security and Economic Competitiveness website -- so why not use it? Here's how you can do it, and some talking points if you need them.

Libya And Obama’s Defense Of The ‘Rebel Uprising’

From Global Research
By James Petras
Over the past two weeks Libya has been subjected to the most brutal imperial air, sea and land assault in its modern history. Thousands of bombs and missiles, launched from American and European submarines, warships and fighter planes, are destroying Libyan military bases, airports, roads, ports, oil depots, artillery emplacements, tanks, armored carriers, planes and troop concentrations. Dozens of CIA and SAS special forces have been training, advising and mapping targets for the so-called Libyan ‘rebels’ engaged in a civil war against the Gaddafi government, its armed forces, popular militias and civilian supporters (NY Times 3/30/11).
Despite this massive military support and their imperial ‘allies’ total control of Libya’s sky and coastline, the ‘rebels’ have proven incapable of mobilizing village or town support and are in retreat after being confronted by the Libyan government’s highly motivated troops and village militias (Al Jazeera 3/30/11).
One of the most flimsy excuse for this inglorious rebel retreat offered by the Cameron-Obama-Sarkozy ‘coalition’, echoed by the mass media, is that their Libyan ‘clients’ are “outgunned” (Financial Times, 3/29/11). Obviously Obama and company don’t count the scores of jets, dozens of warships and submarines, the hundreds of daily attacks and the thousands of bombs dropped on the Libyan government since the start of Western imperial intervention. Direct military intervention of 20 major and minor foreign military powers, savaging the sovereign Libyan state, as well as scores of political accomplices in the United Nations do not contribute to any military advantage for the imperial clients – according to the daily pro-rebel propaganda.

Gaddaffi’s African “Mercenary” Story is a Disinformation Ploy by the CIA

From Strategic Culture Foundation
By Wayne Madsen
Another, this time an Israeli source alleges that 50,000 African mercenaries have been hired by Ghadafi through an Israeli company, Global CST. Watch the PressTV video here. But one would have thought that were this story true it would be headline news?Experts on Africa who have traveled extensively in Libya contend that the stories emanating from the Western media that portray Libya’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi, as engaging the services of black mercenaries from Sahara and sub-Sahara Africa is a disinformation ploy by the CIA to stoke racist fervor among Libyans rebelling against Gaddafi.
After Western news sources ‘reported’ that Gaddafi had hired black African mercenaries to fight against Libyan rebels, thousand of black African workers in Libya were set upon by angry mobs who believed the Western propaganda that the black workers were fighting for Gaddafi.

FUTUREWORLD (1976)

What was it about the 1970s? How were screenplay writers and directors so accurate in their depictions of the future? Futureworld is one of these films in which almost everything predicted in 1976 has come true. Futureworld is the first film to present virtual reality. It has the first cyber sex scene in the history of cinema. The film shows how  a company which is a cross of Disney World, Microsoft and Google has an agenda to implement a high tech fascist corporate state. Futureworld is the sequel to Westworld based on the novel by Michael Crichton. However, Futureworld steps away from the action film orientation of its precedessor.

Two investigative journalists travel to Delos amusement park to find out why all the robots kills the guests two years before. They are subjected to endless high tech examinations as the corporation complies a psychological profile on them. Eventually, the reporters discover an agenda to reduce humanity all to robots. The question confronted in the film is what we are confronted with today. Are we to remain human beings with souls and intellect or are we to be turned into machines by ecocidal capitalism?
Directed by Richard T. Heffron

Amiri Baraka: The New Invasion of Africa

By Amiri Baraka

So it wd be this way
That they wd get a negro
To bomb his own home
To join with the actual colonial
Powers, Britain, France, add Poison Hillary
With Israeli and Saudi to make certain
That revolution in Africa must have a stopper
So call in the white people who long tasted our blood
They would be the copper, overthrow Libya
With some bullshit humanitarian scam
With the negro yapping to make it seem right (far right)
But that’s how Africa got enslaved by the white
A negro selling his own folk, delivering us to slavery
In the middle of the night. When will you learn poet
And remember it so you know it
Imperialism can look like anything
Can be quiet and intelligent and even have
A pretty wife. But in the end, it is insatiable
And if it needs to, it will take your life.

The May 2011 Canadian Election

Canada is to hold the most important Federal election since 1988. One can make a convincing argument that the upcoming election will be the most important held since confederation in 1867. The stakes for the country have never been greater. Not only is the future of democracy at stake but more fundamentally, the status of the Canada as a sovereign independent country is on the line. This is the fourth election to be held within 7 years, the third held within 5 years. These are unmistakable indicators of political turbulence and instability.

Stephen Harper's Contempt For Parliament and Democracy
The election itself was precipitated by an unprecedented vote of no confidence in the government of Stephen Harper. The Conservative Reform Alliance Party (CRAP) was brought down by a motion holding the government in contempt of parliament. Never in the history of Confederation had a government been brought down for contempt of parliament. The CRAP minority government refused to provide the House of Commons budget estimates for the costs of its prison expansion program and other reactionary "law and order" measures introduced by the government. Additionally, the CRAP government unilaterally sought to purchase F-35 war jets without consulting the parliament nor without reporting the costs.

An African Perspective On The Situation In Libya

From New Zimbabwe
by Nathaniel Manheru

AS I write, Libya is burning. It is in the throes of war, more accurately, of a "righteous" aggression.
The list of the aggressor nations is as familiar as it is predictable: US, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Denmark and Canada. Missing in this Western league is Portugal. Missing in this unholy league is Germany, itself historically the venue and convenor of the 19th Century meeting that made the colonial phase of imperialism an abiding ethos in international relations.
I am referring to the Berlin Conference of 1884 which laid the ground rules for the partitioning of Africa, while averting likely conflict between and among Europe’s rapacious participants. Creating a sub-category in this invading group ranged against Libya is America and Canada, themselves offshoots and creatures of another colonialism. Together, they make a statement about latter-day colonialism spearheaded by erstwhile colonies. That is how rich imperialism is today, how weak Africa is today and, God forbid, tomorrow. Being a colony of a colony is the worst fate for a people, a continent. Being unsure of your futures is worse. It is a despairing thought.
