Stay Hungry-Talking Heads 1975 Demo

Talking Heads was originally a trio consisting of David Byrne, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. Jerry Harrison, the keyboardist, lead guitarist and sometimes co-songwriter hadn't joined the band yet. This version is very different from the studio album More Songs About Buildings and Food (1978) with Harrison on keyboards and Brian Eno's production. In 1975, no one was ready for a white funk and soul group. Blacks would have been offended thinking that the band was making fun of Soul music. Whites would not have have tolerated this "Black" sound. Alas, CBS rejected the band and Sire Records along with Brian Eno turned it into rock. However, Harrison's eerie keys were not a bad substitute for Byrne's eerie soul vocalizations in the original demo
