Smart, Eh? The Electronic Concentration Camp Of Totalitarian Capitalism Has Arrived

By Der Kosmonaut
"In the future we'll all be subjected to retina scans. Everyone's personal information from school grades and criminal records to their finances will be stored in a central database. The cops will be able to stop anyone and do a retina scan. The cops will have access to all that person's information through a computer. 'Oh! You don't have enough credits! We're bringing you in!"

Last year I wrote the poem Smart. In that poem I stated that SMART is actually an acronym which stood for "Stupid Methods (of) Authoritarian Reactionary Totalitarianism". Though some readers and listeners took it as another one of my clever and witty jokes, I was deadly serious. It wasn't a joke nor was it actually funny.
The other evening I dined out with two older women. One of them showed off her new Apple iPhone 6 and its various features. Most phones have security locks in which users have to enter a PIN to access. The latest iPhone model has rendered that redundant. It has a fingerprint scanner. When someone buys the phone and sets it up, they press their finger on the scanner which records the print.
Apple now has the fingerprints of all of its stupid users. With the Federal government now demanding that Apple turn over all its security features to the FBI, this means that the Feds will also obtain access to the fingerprints of all users of the latest iPhones. Of course it never occurred to this woman that she was voluntarily handing over her biometric data not only to Apple but to the FBI, NSA and CSIS as well.
This is a sign of what's to come. Soon users of all Apple products (iPhones, tablets, desktops and laptops) will have to submit their fingerprints in order to use them. Since Apple has long set the template for high tech information products, its rivals will soon follow suit. Within 5 years everyone will be forced to submit their biometric data to use their personal mobile phones and computers.
In turn this will evolve beyond communications devices. ATM cards will be phased out. In order to withdraw cash and to make purchases, people will be forced to submit their fingerprints. This is in line with plans by the ruling class to eliminate cash altogether. In the near future when someone  makes a phone call, surfs online, buys a cup of coffee, uses public transit, they will be compelled to have their fingers scanned.
Since most folks are under Thought Control already, there will be very little resistance against the moves towards a cashless society.
20 years ago I had a brilliant Black friend in New York.  I think about him often and wonder if he's still alive, locked up in a solitary confinement prison or if he has escaped to somewhere else. He predicted this development back in 1995. He must be quoted at length:
"In the future we'll all be subjected to retina scans. Everyone's personal information from school grades and criminal records to their finances will be stored in a central database. The cops will be able to stop anyone and do a retina scan. The cops will have access to all that person's information through a computer. 'Oh! You don't have enough credits! We're bringing you in!"
We both chuckled yet at the same time we knew that it was neither a funny joke nor was it a far-fetched scenario. We were both resigned that is what the future held for us. Indeed, his prescient insight has come true 20 years later.
Smart, eh?
