What Prince Meant To Me

By Der Kosmonaut
"I want to live life to the ultimate high
Maybe I'll die young like heroes die"
-"Under The Cherry Moon" 1986

The above text from Prince neatly sums up the life of the most extraordinary artist of my lifetime. I actually cried when I received the awful news that Prince had passed from our existence. I don't know what's more shocking, his death or that I actually cried. In my lifetime since I first took music seriously at the age of 14, fifteen prominent musician have passed. All but one of them died too young. The fifteen are in chronological order: Scott La Rock of Boogie Down Productions (1987), Kurt Cobain of Nirvana (1994), Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon (1995), Tupac Shakur (1996) Biggie Smalls (1997), Michael Hutchence of INXS (1997), Falco (1998), Joe Strummer of The Clash (2002), Robert Palmer (2003), James Brown (2006), Richard Wright of Pink Floyd (2008), Michael Jackson (2009), Bob Casale of Devo (2014) David Bowie (2016), Prince (2016).

Prince 1958-2016

It's with profound regrets that the world has lost the best musician after James Brown. I will write an obituary in the coming days. Prince was one the true musical geniuses along with John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker. Housequake is my personal favorite song by Prince.

Revolutionary Violence

Armed Protesters Heading To Police Station During The Ferguson Insurrection 2014

 By Ljubodrag Duci Simonović

Without the willingness of the working class to stand at the barricades, all other political options are nothing but a political clamor, which cannot produce any essential changes. The militarization of the working class and the young that results from the struggle for survival and is based on the humanist visionary consciousness is of utmost existential significance. Instead of a pacifistic upbringing, the young people should develop the will to fight against capitalism and to create a humane world. At the same time, without political organization and the political engagement of workers on a daily basis, storming the barricades cannot have a true revolutionary, which means a visionary character, but just a rebellious and destructive one. A revolutionary fight is not only a fight against the ruling order, but also a fight for a humane world.
